In Love With Linen – Porter and Brawn

In Love With Linen

In Love With Linen

Just in time for the first signs of Spring (they are there we promise!), Zara Home has launched a gorgeous collection of linen textiles for the home.  The collection includes some faded linen cushion colours in beautiful fresh shades at £12.99 as well as gorgeous sky blue bedlinen featuring a subtle stripe pattern priced between £49.99 and £99.99.  “Linen was the first fiber used to create a fabric and is considered as the world´s strongest natural fiber. Its appearance, stonewashed and its seasonal on trend colours will change the way you rest; because this linen selection is not only cool and sophisticated, its fibers make it a great natural insulator, really soft and good for your skin” – Zara Home

With such variety of design styles available, choosing home textiles and decor can sometimes be overwhelming.  Detailed embellishments and intricate embroidery are often competitively priced and thus make good investments for the home.  However, in a busy world where we look to switch off from noise and chaos, often a good direction for interior styling is to dial down the fuss and focus on texture and quality of material, creating a sense of natural simplicity.  Linen has been making a come back for a while but there are now so many affordable and tactile options, creating a harmonious scheme is so much easier to realise.  For those that like smooth sheets and smart, tailored styles – this may be the wrong direction.  To love linen you need to enjoy imperfect details and a relaxed, laid-back style.  Quality linen is, however, worth the investment – it’s breathable, highly durable and it’s natural qualities make it perfect for bedlinen.
