Review of new store ARKET from H&M group

Last Friday I ventured to Regent Street to visit the greatly anticipated new store Arket.

This is the first to open in the U.K and is part of the H&M group which includes H&M, Cos, &Other Stories, Weekday, Monki, and Cheap Monday. Arket is pitched as ‘a modern-day market’ that offers essential products for men, women, children and the home’.

I focused mainly on the homeware department which was small and compact, however,  overall the store is minimal and spacious, really showcasing the product. I was completely drawn in by gorgeously simple product range, but I could see how some might have felt the environment to be a little intimidating. The selection of products available are well-edited basics. Colour is limited to neutrals throughout the whole range with highlights of colour dotted here and there. The colour palette within cushions, however, is surprisingly bright – there are tones of greys mixed with punchy yellow, pink and orange.

The products are minimal, durable and well designed – authentic to Nordic philosophy.

Arket’s mission is to ‘democratise quality’ with a mixture of own-brand product as well as curated classic brands that have stood the test of time and fit with the ethos

The range at the moment is fairly limited, but the products and packaging are beautifully designed essentials for your home – things which usually get overlooked.

The price range is broad, starting at an affordable £2 for a wooden spoon and finishing at a more considered purchase price of £225 for a stunning Littalia Sarpaneva cast iron pot by Finish designer and Sculptor Timo Sarpaneva.

The packaging in the ‘Bath & Body is stunningly simple and I am now wishing I had bought a candle as the scents were so evocative.

One of my favourite departments was vases which are competitively priced, stylish and practical,  but included statements for any home. Astonishingly,  I came away with nothing but as we speak I am back browsing their website.  Look out on Instagram for my Arket purchase!

My top picks are …..

Arket, scented candle - cade
Children's linen apron - Arket
ARKET, Handwash
Small utensil jar
Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage bowl
Spouted serving plate
Small water jug
Small spouted bowl

Have you managed to pop into the store yet?  Or shopped the range online?  What did you think?  Comment below!

Fantastic site you have here but I was curious if you knew of any user discussion forums that cover the same topics talked about in this article? I’d really like to be a part of online community where I can get feedback from other knowledgeable people that share the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Cheers!
